Stewardship

This past year we’ve become a Believe Out Loud church and sent the message that everyone is welcome. All Are Welcome! is our theme for the 2025 Pledge Drive.

As stewards of gifts we receive from God, here are some of the ways we can give back to our church parish and beyond our walls into the community.

Talent and Treasure

Please see our Give page for information on how to contribute financially to our church and beyond our walls. To continue our journey of inclusion and reaching out, we need to cover our yearly expenses.

Climate Care group

What’s been happening in 2024?

During the year 2024, the Climate Care team has been intentional about engaging environmentally in several projects.

Celebrating Season of Creation with a walk at Van Bibber Park in Arvada on a lovely Autumn Day.

  • Throughout the month of September, we celebrated the second annual Season of Creation, a worldwide, ecumenical celebration of our planet earth and the importance of protecting its beauty.

    • On Sundays we used a special liturgy.

    • We hosted two urban walks in Arvada.

    • On September 28th, Cathy Atkinson represented CTK at the Annual Convention by participating in the Imagining Care of Creation in Your Context program.

  • On April 21st in celebration of Earth Day (April 22nd) Reverend Austin included several parts of the Ecological Examen in the worship service along with a bulletin insert with reflection questions about how each one of us can better our relationship with the Earth.

  • The Climate Care team handed out a small portion of plant pollinator seeds native to Colorado Eastern Plains to each parishioner.

  • The weekly Sunday Service on June 16 was held outside to combine worship with appreciating nature directly, and to celebrate the summer solstice on June 20th, the longest day of the year and official start of the summer season.

Created in 2019, the Climate Care Team is a group of lively, fun-loving people concerned with preserving our environment.

We have participated in many “green” projects that have been both fun and environmentally sound. Please email Cathy Atkinson at jatkin2295@aol.com if you would like to join us at our monthly meetings on Zoom at 6:00 PM, on the first Thursday of every month.

Book Recycling Bin in the south parking lot.

BOOK RECYCLING

There is a BOOK RECYCLING BIN outside of the church from Dreambooks for anyone to donate used or new books, DVDs CDs, and video games.

These items, depending on their condition, will either be recycled or repaired so they may be sold in their book store. (Please, no moldy materials, magazines, newspapers, or cassettes/VHS.)

Let’s keep filling it up!

Previous projects that Climate Care has completed include: offering parish members a recyclable water bottle and a reusable grocery bag inscribed with our Christ the King logo; exposing our parish to green laundry detergent alternatives; sharing the second edition of the Climate Care Advent Calendar full of new tips to environmentally clean up your 2023 Advent Season; re-landscaping and xeriscaping of some flower beds; new weatherstripping in main entrance doorway; and changing office lights from fluorescent to LED.

Fixers and Tenders

Newly painted wall in Kempsell Hall

Our Fixers and Tenders take on a lot of the small maintenance jobs around the church building and the grounds. Our building and property is extensive and requires a lot of work to keep everything in top condition. Larger jobs, such as cleaning, maintaining sprinkler system, snow removal, and HVAC maintenance are contracted out.

But in between, we work on projects such as replacing lightbulbs, minor plumbing repairs, mowing, trimming shrubs, garden upkeep, and a variety of other projects.

Arras transformed our south-facing garden along the parking lot into a lush and colorful border in the Spring, Summer and Fall!

Crafters of the King

The Crafters of the King meet on the first and third Mondays of each month to work on various craft projects, such as knitting, crocheting, needle work, quilting, and jewelry making. The group has made prayer shawls & lap blankets for individuals who are experiencing difficult times, warm hats and scarves for The Rising Day Center, and various craft items sold to benefit CTK.

In December 2023, hosted a Craft Sale in conjunction with the “Christmas Tea”. We also offered hand-made items for sale on Sundays before and after services in December.
